The Raine Medical Research Foundation conducted a comprehensive survey to evaluate the research careers of individuals supported by the Raine Priming Grant (RPG) funding scheme as well as research outcomes and benefits to the community.
The survey solicited data on the long-term career trajectories, research impact, research translation, and societal contributions of RPG recipients. Findings highlighted the program’s role in advancing medical research and public health. The survey results demonstrated that the RPG effectively fosters research excellence, supports career progression, promotes the translation of research into practice, and enhances community health outcomes. The survey also explored how the Raine Foundation can continue to support researchers and hence provide better health outcomes to communities impacted by disease.
Specifically, survey responses clearly showed RPG recipients are outperforming sector norms across multiple research impact measures. They’ve secured national and international funding above the sector average, actively collaborated with academia, industry, and government, and translated research into commercial ventures—securing patents and even launching publicly listed or scientific companies. Recipients also demonstrate strong consumer engagement, consistently mentor staff and students, and the majority lead their own research programs with funding as primary investigators.
