About the Raine Catalyst Initiative
Complete the Expression of InterestThe Raine Catalyst Initiative is a new Expression of Interest pathway designed to identify opportunities that address important health challenges and have the potential to improve health outcomes through strategic Foundation investment.
Building on almost 70 years of supporting exceptional researchers and initiatives, the Catalyst Initiative seeks opportunities where Foundation support can accelerate progress, strengthen collaboration, and unlock greater impact. Beyond Foundation funding, this may also include philanthropic engagement and partnership development where appropriate.
Expressions of Interest are welcomed from researchers, clinicians, research organisations, health services, and collaborative partnerships whose opportunities align with the Foundation’s charitable purpose.
Applicants are encouraged to consider the Foundation’s Strategic Priority Areas, although opportunities outside these areas may also be considered where they demonstrate strong alignment with the Foundation’s charitable purpose and the potential for meaningful health impact.
Strategic Priority Areas
The Raine Foundation has identified four strategic priority areas to help guide investment toward areas of significant need and opportunity:
Healthy Ageing
Focuses on extending health span, preventing or delaying age-related disease, and improving quality of life across later years through research that supports healthier, longer lives. The area is aligned with significant population health challenges.
Child Health
Supports research and initiatives that improves health outcomes from early life to 18 years old, including prevention, treatment, and long-term wellbeing for children.
Aboriginal Health
Prioritises culturally informed, community-led opportunities that address health inequities and supports better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the lifespan.
Cardiovascular Health
Targets prevention, early detection, and improved treatment of heart and vascular disease, a major contributor to morbidity and mortality in Western Australia and beyond.

Stage 1 – Expression of Interest
Applicants submit an Expression of Interest outlining their opportunity, its potential impact, and how Raine support could help accelerate progress. EOIs undergo a preliminary review, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their EOI, including whether they will progress to the next stage.
Complete the Expression of InterestStage 2 – Opportunity Development
Selected applicants may be invited to further develop their opportunity. Depending on the nature of the opportunity, this may include providing additional information, refining the proposal, exploring Foundation funding, philanthropic engagement, partnership development, or a combination of these approaches.
Progression beyond the EOI stage is by invitation and does not guarantee funding.
For more information about the process, please refer to the Applicant Journey in the EOI Guidelines.
