Our Impact

Our Impact - Pioneering the way to new discoveries

The Raine Medical Research Foundation has backed researchers with the greatest potential to pave the way to new discoveries and has supported life-altering medical research at every stage of life, from childhood right through to old age.

With an investment of over $60 million, the foundation has funded innovative projects that address and provide solutions to a range of health conditions.

“Many hundreds of health care workers and researchers have benefited from the work of the Raine Foundation. Our population has benefited greatly. It is my true belief that Mary Raine would have been fiercely proud. In turn, we are truly grateful to her for her vision and commitment to help the many of us whose lives have followed hers.”

Professor John Newnham AM

The success of our investments: under the microscope

The Raine Foundation is committed to ensuring that every dollar spent results in measurable impact.

We device and implement funding programs which ensure the best possible health outcomes for those impacted by illness can be achieved.

The proven success of our programs: backed by data

Our hallmark Raine Priming Grant program, launched in 1997 has supported 246 researchers in their pursuit of generating ground breaking discoveries and advancing health and medical research outcomes.

Key results of our Raine Priming Grant survey reveal that:

99%

of Raine Priming Grant respondents indicated the award had assisted them in achieving their research outcomes to-date

62%

have become heads of research groups, departments or centres

30%

have patented or commercialised their research

37%

have incorporated their research into clinical trials

67%

have acquired Federal NHMRC funding as First Named Investigator (4x the national average)

45%

more last authored research publications are produced by Raine recipients compared to non-recipients
