2024 International Women’s Day – Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

The Charter Hall Group’s “Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress” campaign, held from March 4th to March 15th in honour of International Women’s Day 2024, was a celebration of the achievements of women in Western Australia, past and present. As part of this event, the Raine Medical Research Foundation showcased the inspiring story of its founder, Mary Raine. Despite operating in a male-dominated world during the 1920s, Mary Raine emerged as a prominent female entrepreneur who played a significant role in shaping the Perth CBD.

Mary Raine’s remarkable achievements as an astute businesswoman, her accumulation of an impressive portfolio of properties and hotels, including what is now known as Raine Square, stand as a testament to her vision and resilience. Moreover, her decision to bequeath her fortune to establish the Raine Medical Research Foundation reflects her foresight and self-sacrificing commitment to help those impacted and suffering from health conditions.

The event, held at Raine Square in the heart of Perth CBD, provided the public with insights into the rich history of the area and the enduring legacy of Mary Raine. Her story serves as an inspiration for women and aspiring female leaders, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

The Raine Medical Research Foundation was honoured to take part in the Charter Hall Group’s campaign, shining a light on Mary Raine’s remarkable generosity that has significantly influenced the medical research landscape in Western Australia.  By sharing her story, the Foundation hopes to foster empowerment among women, igniting within them the inspiration to forge brighter paths for themselves and their communities.
