Professor David Findlay is a cell and molecular biologist, who has focused primarily on the physiology and pathology of bone and joints. He completed an MSc and PhD at the University of Melbourne, post-doctoral work at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland, USA, and research at the University of Melbourne, before moving to the University of Adelaide in 1996. In 2004 he was promoted to Professor of Orthopaedic Research in the Discipline of Orthopaedics and Trauma. He is Scientific Co-Director, the University of Adelaide Centre for Orthopaedic and Trauma Research (COTR). He has published over 250 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and reviews, covering a broad range of topics within the musculoskeletal field. He has an established national and international reputation in musculoskeletal research and in 2016 he was elected Fellow of the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies. Much of his recent research has been directed at understanding the changes that take place in the skeleton in osteoarthritis.
