Publication Prizes
The purpose of the Prizes is to acknowledge the achievements of early-career researchers in Western Australia who have the best published scientific papers.
A Publication Prize is available in each of the following categories:
- Clinical research – The applicant shall be a WA-based early-career researcher whose scientific research paper seeks to translate clinical research (directly involving patients) into better health outcomes.
- Child Health research – The applicant shall be a WA-based early-career researcher whose scientific research paper is in the field of child health.
- All other medical research fields – The applicant shall be a WA-based early-career researcher whose scientific research paper seeks to better understand the nature, origin, and cause of human diseases, and their prevention and treatment.
A Prize of $5,000 (and a medallion) is awarded to the successful applicants as a travel allowance to facilitate conference attendance, networking, and research collaboration.

Partnership funding will be considered in support of top successful applicants in the fields of clinical research (Strachan Bequest), and child health research (BrightSpark Foundation).
Guidelines and Conditions
The Guidelines and Conditions governing the Prizes are subject to regular review by the Research Committee to ensure that they are relevant and clearly articulate the main principles for selection.
